Still alive..had a migraine for two days, really busy, tired of no brain idiots, haven't bought a new computer yet..I think that about says it all..until next time..TATA!

I need to buy a new computer. The one DH brought home yesterday was a no go, didn't work, sucks to be me... That means I need to go pluck some money from the money tree I have growing in the backyard (that is sarcasm, in case it wasn't obvious LOL) and try and find something new. I am thinking I will go with a laptop that I can hook up to my 22 inch screen. I need at minimum a dual core, 4 GB of RAM, at least a 500 GB hard drive and a decent graphics card, anyone have any recommendations?

Oy...A Weekend Update...

We had a bit of a hectic weekend and since the Holidays are kicking into high gear, it doesn't look like we will be getting a break until after the new year!

Saturday morning I went to turn on my trusty desktop and promptly got the "blue screen of death" I have had that happen a couple times over the past six months, but it always started right back up, alas, not this time! We had to leave for an event at S's school so DH didn't get a chance to poke around and see what was up, but we thought it most likely was my hard drive.

After we returned from school we headed out and bought our Christmas tree and decorated and then DH ran off to the mall to pick up a birthday gift for L to bring because he has a party to attend Tuesday. he also had to nab some clothes that L needed for the LUCIA thing both kids are taking part in Thursday. Is there anything sexier then a man clothes shopping for his kids? lol After he returned we had a glamorous dinner od soup and sandwiches and later DH and I got to see the movie 2012, so a nice way to end the day!

Sunday we all slept in (yay) and then I had the joy of catching up on laundry, cleaning etc. whilst my computer genius of a husband set out to see what was up with my computer. Alas, the news was not good. We thought maybe it was just the hard drive (that would have been bad enough), but no, it appears to be that my motherboard bit the big one..sigh. We really do not have the money to replace my computer right now, which is not good because I *just* this weekend was hired to do some custom wedding invitations and I need my desktop for that! Anyways, fingers crossed DH thinks he has a computer at work that he got from a friend (he wanted DH to see why it wasn't working and DH thought it was a RAM problem and he should buy new RAM, but the guy just went out and bought a whole new computer and have DH the old one). It's specs are pretty much on par with my now dead one, so hopefully my RAM will work in it, we'll see.

Later in the day we had friends over for some coffee and cake and a nice chat, so a hectic, but on the whole a nice weekend! This week is shaping up to be a bit nuts though! Tonight we have S's dance recital, then Tuesday little man has a birthday party to attend, Wednesday so far seems to be clear, then Thursday we have a Christmas/Lucia event to attend at the kids after school place and Friday L is off to the theater with his pre school. If that wasn't enough, we then have a couple of get togethers to attend next weekend.gotta love the holidays! LOL

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade....

Everybody knows we Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving in October, BUT, I grew up very close to the American border and because of that we received quite a few TV channels from the US.

Every year growing up I use to pretend I was sick on the American Thanksgiving so I could stay home and watch The Macy's Day parade!

The past couple years I have been able to find a live streaming NBC channel and the kids and I snuggle on the sofa with popcorn and enjoy the parade. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the stars line up and we will again this year be able to follow the same tradition.

SUBWAY...you have returned!!!

A few years ago all the SUBWAYS disappeared from Copenhagen and seemed to be replaced with SUNSET BLVD. It was a sad day for me, sad, sad, sad!

That is until now! DH just rang me to tell me he just ran across my beloved SUBWAY on his way to visit his dad..YAY! Guess who is going to be enjoying a yummy roast chicken sub very very soon! :D

This was such an interesting read! Not just for the history behind the words, but it was chocked full of interesting historical factoids and for a history nut like me, that makes for a great read! Often times books of this nature can be a bit dry in their reading, but the author just has such an engaging voice, with touches of humor etc. throughout. A really really good book and a must read for any history nut!

A Little of This & That Today...

Isn't that a very cool photo!? Anyways, I don't have much of an update today, our weekend was pretty boring. S was still sporting a fever until late Saturday night, so we just vegged all day Saturday, cleaned, did laundry, watched movies, read etc. We decided not to decorate this weekend because we are going to be buying a real Christmas tree this year and it is to early still to buy one of those, and since the tree is always the main decoration, I figured I would just wait!

Sunday S was FINALLY feeling better and we had a visit from "nonno" (grandpa) who brought L's birthday gift and a bunch of other yummies he brought us back from Italy, so that was nice! Sunday night after we tossed the kids into bed DH and I sat down and watched INGLOURIOUS BASTARDS (<--LINK) We enjoyed it quite a bit, though it was a pretty long movie, so two thumbs up from us! I am also reading a WAY interesting book right now, but I will post about that one tomorrow!

I also finished 90% of my Christmas shopping Sunday from the comfort of my own home. LOL If you remember a couple weeks ago DH and I were going to go out one day when the kids were both in school and do all the shopping, but then the "sickies" started and have lasted so long, that I figured I might as well get what I can online. Both kids are pretty much finished. I ordered 2 Nintendo DS Lite (blue & pink), 2 cases (extra sticks, screen covers etc), 3 games each, Wii Sports Resort (plus extra motion plus attachment), a couple pairs of pj's, some small Hotwheel cars and Littlest Pet Shop stuff. That should be pretty much it, I may collect a few more "stocking stuffers", but the big stuff is finished! Now I just have to sit back and wait for it to be delivered. LOL

Today is suppose to be "Foodie Friday" but apparently I spoke to soon and S's fever came back last evening, so she is still home sick, plus I have a million things I need to get done today, SO..I am just going to show off the totally adorable school photo of my baby boy. I just received the photos yesterday and LOVE them!

Since it is Friday, and I have my weekly menu planned, I might as well share that also. ;)

It's that time of year again...

Now that my bathroom is back to normal, S is feeling much better and my arm doesn't hurt as much, it is time to turn my focus on my favorite time of the year..CHRISTMAS!! I will be digging out my ornaments this weekend and spreading joy through my apartment. We usually have a fake Christmas tree, but DH thought it would be nice to actually "go real" this year, so we'll see if I can hold out until they start selling those!

It is also time for me to be making a pilgrimage to the British food store downtown to pick up my yearly fruit cake (yes I actually love fruit cake, shoot me LOL) and my mince tarts. They cost an arm and a leg, but it is a tradition I have created for us here and so as they say, c'est la vie.

I have already started collecting bits and pieces for my Christmas dinner. We have a traditional "Canadian" Christmas with roast turkey, stuffing, cranberries etc. We usually have my BIL for dinner (he LOVES my Christmas dinner spread LOL) but he has a woman this year, so I think it will be just us. Anyways, I have the 5 kg turkey in my freezer and need to grab and couple packs of cranberries soon.

I've probably wrote about this before, but we do a combo style Christmas here (Danish/Canadian), on the 24th I cook our big dinner and "JULEMAND" comes to deliver the kids stockings and little gifts, they them go to sleep and "SANTA" comes by to deliver the bigger gifts. The morning of the 25th we (the adults) have mimosas and pastries whilst the kids open the gifts. We then just veg and eat leftovers and enjoy the day!

I love the holiday season and  am just so excited and ready to start celebrating! Have a good one and until next time..TATA!!
