How is it possible that my baby girl is a whole 7 years old today?? It seems like just yesterday I was in the hospital having the birth experience from hell *shudder* lol. We are having a birthday party for her on the 17th (we are up to 3 yes's out of 9 now...still trying not to panic about not hearing from more...), so as I mentioned yesterday I will post about what we have planned, food, the draft etc and maybe some of you will find some helpful ideas for planning your own "Tea Party" themed birthday!
To start off I got these super cute Invites to send out! You can check them out
HERE. They have a lot of cute tea party themed stuff, but I was only interested in the invites. :)
How cute are those right?? Next up is the food! Going along with the theme we are going to be having finger sandwiches. I am thinking cucumber ones, jam, tuna salad and cherry cream cheese ones. My friend Jen gave me this recipe and it sounds pretty good...
Cheery Cherry Sandwiches16 oz. cream cheese
slivered almonds (optional)
large jar maraschino cherries with some liquid
Soften cream cheese. Cut up cherries and add to cream
cheese. Add enough cherry juice to make soft sandwich spread.
Add almonds, if desired. Spread on white bread, trim crusts, cut into
desired shapes.
Besides the sandwiches we will also be having fruit kabobs and juice straight from a teapot! lol I am hoping to get to IKEA this weekend to pick up a three tire stand. The look I am going for is something along these lines...
I decided against making a cake and wanted to make some decorated cupcakes instead. I decided to go with a recipe I found at
PINK CAKE BOX. I LOVE the way her cupcakes look! I am going to try and recreate her frosting look and I picked up some very girly and pretty decorations to put on top!
I am going to be using her recipe for
RED VELVET CUPCAKES AND CREAM CHEESE FROSTING. I am pretty sure I am going to tint the frosting pink though!
That bring us to the craft. I had a bit of a hard time trying to decide on a craft for the party. There were a lot of good ideas out there and we took a trip to the craft store in the mall and got some ideas. We finally settled on having the girls decorate their own masks...
I bought feathers, sequins, glitter, little plastic jewels and we will also have markers. I'll set out dishes of glue and brushes and let them have at it. LOL I am trying not to think about the mess I am going to have on my floor after, but at least the table will be covered. I think this will be a fun craft for the girls and they can set the masks aside to dry whilst we eat cupcakes and open gifts.
Lastly are the party favors, I wanted something that went along with the general theme and was cute and would hopefully last awhile. I found some cheap tea cups and saucers at the store and will fill one of those for each girl with little trinkets, stickers and candy. I found some cute girly yoyos, some ink stamps, stickers, some heart shaped candy and a few other types of candy. I am then going to wrap those in cellophane (note to self, buy colored cellophane) and tie them with a pink ribbon and name tag!
So that is pretty much what we have planned. The party is two and a half hours, so hopefully that is long enough to get everything we have planned done and hopefully the girls have a blast!! Now just keep your fingers crossed that a few more give me a "yes" they are coming! LOL So that will wrap things up for today. I hope you have a great one and until next time..TATA!!
